Maintenance Technician, Painter (Trades Specialist IV)
Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the full-time position of Maintenance Technician, Painter (Trades Specialist IV) in University Housing.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Performing journey level work in the painting, finishing, and maintaining of a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures; delivering and utilizing ladders and elevated platforms; covering surfaces with drop cloths or plastic to ensure protection; removing fixtures and electric switch cover prior to painting and using painters tape where appropriate to protect from paint drops, drips and spills; performing high-level trade skills in the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, appliance, and carpentry; maintaining documentation regarding work activities through housing software solution; requesting and maintaining equipment and materials; inspecting housing facilities and equipment; moving furniture, supplies, and equipment; working collaboratively with constituents; utilizing safety practices and completing required trainings; maintaining safe and clean working environment; following departmental rules, regulations, and protocols; participating in on-call rotation; completing general custodial work; and performing others duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and three (3) years of experience in trades related and general maintenance work are required. Must possess and maintain valid driver's license and have a clear three (3) year driving record. A successful candidate will also have working knowledge of operations and use of equipment and tools used in the general maintenance of buildings including common hand tools and portable, hand-held power tools; must be able to operate University vehicles including vans, trucks, golf carts, forklifts, and "man-lift" devises.; ability to understand oral and written instructions.; ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing; possess knowledge of safety practices; and the skills to make emergency and general repairs and/or adjustments to equipment.
Trades Specialist IV (149737/KC40), full-time position with benefits. SC State payband 4. Normal work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Must be able to work overtime, including before start of shift, at end of shift, weekends, etc.
