Engineering Technician
Port Manatee is seeking a full-time engineering technician. This position performs entry-
level to semi-skilled field and/or office technical engineering work including activities related to surveying, mapping, drafting, design, etc., and related administrative work.

This position performs entry-level to semi-skilled field and/or office technical engineering work
including activities related to surveying, mapping, drafting, design, etc., and related administrative
work including filing, tracking, monitoring, analyzing, reporting, etc.
Job Duties
Essential Functions

Assist the Senior Director of Planning, Engineering and Environmental Affairs with his duties.
Perform CAD drafting and GIS duties; create and edit files; run plotting machines; file and
retrieve computer and hard-copy documents; perform office clerical work.
Plan and conduct engineering research, field studies, inspections including compliance
inspections, and plan evaluations.
Prepare technical documentation and compose reports.
Interpret and utilize complex engineering techniques in the solution of problems encountered in
the area of assignment.
Communicate clearly, effectively and tactfully with correct English grammar, orally and in
writing (including preparation and presentation of reports and data).
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Work emergency situations (including weather and other extreme conditions) as required.
Work diligently and at a high production rate to meet hard, reasonable, needed deadlines.
Manage numerous varied overlapping tasks.
Manage personal wellbeing.
Perform other duties as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates Degree in a related field required. Engineering Degree in a related field desired.
Demonstrated familiarity with AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
Valid driver's license with valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills
Knowledge of techniques, tools and equipment used in area of assignment, utilizing manual
and/or computer methods.
Knowledge of basic mathematics, including geometry, algebra and trigonometry.
Knowledge of computer operations for AutoCAD drafting or data entry processing, with ability
to sit at work stations for long periods of time.
Ability and willingness to work in the field for long periods of time.
Ability to produce engineering drawings accurately and neatly.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing
