McClatchy is hiring a General Ledger Analyst for the general ledger accounting and finance planning and analysis for HCPmedia. This position also contributes to the execution of general ledger processes and analysis for the seven markets in our East Region.

- Biloxi, MS
- Macon, GA
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate entry process for journal entries.
- Track revenue and expenses and book in accordance with matching principle
- Perform or assist with bank account activities, including foreign exchange
- Perform variance analysis at month-end including explanations.
- Assist in preparing information for internal and external audit.
- Produce Balance Sheet reconciliations for review by local and regional finance management.
- Be a liaison between finance and the operating division for HCPmedia
- Calculate finance related statistics for local, regional and corporate management.
- Process prepayments for appropriate recognition.
- Identify areas of profit and process improvement within areas of responsibility.
- Maintain and follow key internal control procedures.
- Coordinate activities performed by Infosys. Assist with inquiries and provide direction.
- Assist with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance testing (QSA)
- Assist Regional CFO with financial matters.
- Other assignments and duties as requested
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Financial Analyst and/or Accounting experience.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Intermediate PC (Microsoft Word, Excel) skills
- Ability to quickly gain knowledge and skills related to the publishing business
- Must have good problem solving skills
Preferred
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft application
- Customer Service experience
- Experience with foreign currency and banking
