OPERATOR I/II/III (Salary: Operator I $3,390-$4,326/mo, Operator II $3,650-$4,659/mo, Operator III $3,931-$5,017/mo) Performs tasks in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and facilities. SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Plant Operations Supervisor, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and facilities. SALARY: Operator I $3,390 - $4,326 per month (Range 14 “A” step through “Y” step) Operator II $3,650 - $4,659 per month (Range 17 “A” step through “Y” step) Operator III $3,931 - $5,017 per month (Range 20 “A” step through “Y” step) *Up to 7.5% wage rate increase for additional certification pay. REGULAR WORK HOURS: Daylight Saving Time: 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. End of Daylight Saving Time: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Must be able to work standby, overtime, weekends, evenings and holidays. REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATOR I: Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license at time of appointment. Possession and maintenance of a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade I certificate issued by the State Water Resources Control Board. One or more years of experience in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant. Incumbents at this level are required to obtain and maintain a Grade II certificate within 18 months of hire date and Grade III within 36 months of hire date. Must be able to respond to calls within 45 minutes for standby and on-call work. REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATOR II: Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license at time of appointment. Possession and maintenance of a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade II certificate issued by the State Water Resources Control Board. Two or more years of experience in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant. Incumbents at this level are required to obtain and maintain a Grade III certificate within 30 months of hire date. Must be able to respond to calls within 45 minutes for standby and on-call work. REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATOR III: Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license at time of appointment.
