Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with some weekend and holiday hours on a rotating basis.
Client Relations Representative
Support the daily operations of SHL as a client services relations representative. Provide telephone support for clients and perform data entry for laboratory testing. Provide superior customer service and support to SHL’s clientele. Promotes positive company relationships with clients and the public through prompt, accurate and courteous resolutions of all telephone and other inquires. Identifies pre-analytical as well as post-analytical issues that may affect test performance and/or results, and notifies the appropriate department supervisor/manager and/or client. This position will work 8am-5pm, with some weekend and holiday hours on a rotating basis.

Since 1904, the State Hygienic Laboratory has been at the forefront of public health issues in Iowa. As the state’s public health and environmental laboratory, the Hygienic Laboratory serves all of Iowa’s 99 counties through disease detection, environmental monitoring, and newborn and maternal screening.

Position Qualifications
Education or Equivalency Required
Bachelor’s degree in science preferred, or business, communications, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Basic Required Qualifications
- Six months to one-year office experience.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.
- Customer service experience.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrate excellent written, oral, and interpersonal, communication skills.
- Demonstrate working experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
- Thirty words per minute typing ability.
Desirable Qualifications
- Basic familiarity with environmental or public health issues.
- Basic familiarity with LIMS or EHR systems.
- Previous experience in data entry.
- Experience in clinical or environmental laboratory setting.
- Basic office experience.
- Previous experience in working in functional teams or involved in team building
