ROLE of the POSITION

Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, the Director of Business and Finance provides leadership and oversight of University Libraries' (UL) business and financial operations. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and ensuring that appropriate financial controls are functioning. The incumbent communicates with UL clients and personnel on a regular basis to assist with questions and resolve any issues that may arise, as well as with other campus agencies, e.g., the Foundation, Office of Sponsored Programs, Accounts Payable, and the Controller's Office. The incumbent will assist the Dean and Library Leadership Team with financial analysis, budget preparation, and other projects and provide assistance as requested to other UL staff, especially Division and Administrative Directors and Department Heads. The incumbent will prepare self-supporting budgets, handle administrative issues, and be involved in the processing and routing of interdepartmental requests and transfers, contracts, and other documents. The incumbent will be responsible for direct financial management of UL, including processing and record keeping of expenditures and revenues. The position supervises one support staff member in the Administrative Assistant III role responsible for purchasing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 3 – 5 years of experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

  • Knowledge of federal control policies and the ability to interpret said policies and implement and oversee appropriate procedures to ensure compliance

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to multi-task
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel to prepare reports and documentation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Nevada, NSHE and UNLV financial internal control policies
  • Experience in managing external funds such as grant, donor, and/or corporate sponsorships.
  • Knowledge of library and/or higher education operations
  • Proficient in the use of Workday and Anaplan
  • 1-3 years of Supervisory and/or Management Experience

 SALARY RANGE

This is a full-time, 12-month, Administrative Faculty position at a Grade C. Minimum salary is $72,000. Salary is competitive with those at similarly situated institutions and dependent upon labor market. Position is contingent upon funding.
