Clery Compliance Officer - UTK

Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Campus Compliance Officer in the newly established Campus Compliance Services unit, the Clery Act Compliance Coordinator leads the institution’s Clery Act Compliance program to ensure the institution’s compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act and associated regulations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, publish, and distribute the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
  • Identify and maintain records of the university's Campus Security Authorities, including contract security
  • Consolidate relevant data from Campus Security Authorities with information and policies from across institutional departments
  • Send annual request for crime statistics to all Campus Security Authorities
  • Gather crime and disciplinary referral data from various internal and external sources, such as Student Conduct and Community Standards, local law enforcement agencies, and state police
  • Maintain organized and accurate records and audit trails
  • Serve as the Records Custodian for all Clery Act-associated records
  • Classify police reports and external referrals for Clery statistics
  • Create summary reports, rationale, and analysis for the classification of Clery crimes
  • Ensure the institution maintains accurate records on security awareness and crime prevention programs and presentations
  • Maintain and update the Clery website, including the Clery Map
  • Ensure compliance with the daily crime and fire log requirements
  • Submit annual crime statistics to the Department of Education
  • Maintain and update the College & University Security Information Act Report on an annual basis
  • Notify the UTK Office of Title IX of Title IX-related incidents
  • Stay abreast of pending and final changes to the Clery Act and other laws or regulations affecting Clery Act provisions; and
  • Develop and implement Clery Act required policies, programs, and activities in conjunction with applicable offices.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Accounting, Law Enforcement, Education, or related fields.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Exceptional oral and written communication abilities; Strong organizational and time management skills; Positive and effective interpersonal communication; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe software; Excellent record-keeping and attention to detail; Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; Highly detail-oriented and focused on accuracy.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: A graduate degree in communications, accounting, law enforcement, education, or related fields; previous experience complying with the requirements of the Clery Act; advanced Clery Act training, and familiarization with Title IX and VAWA
  • Experience: Three or more years of work experience with an institution of Higher Education
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Exceptional oral and written communication abilities; Strong organizational and time management skills; Positive and effective interpersonal communication; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe software; Excellent record-keeping and attention to detail; Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; Highly detail-oriented and focused on accuracy.
